Areeb Zuaiter

Director & Writer

Areeb Zuaiter is a multinational filmmaker who focuses on identity and social issues. Her work was nominated and awarded in festivals around the world.

Areeb led the Regional Department at the Royal Film Commission – Jordan. She also worked for the Associated Press and was exposed to the latest technologies in production and broadcasting. She worked at the National Museum of American History where she produced some of the Museum’s key film projects. Areeb was on the evaluation committee of some of the most competitive programs that cater for the Arab Region. She currently serves as a professor, teaching History of Documentary at the American University and Media Production II at Howard University. READ MORE.

 

Basel Mawlawi

PRODUCER

Basel Mawlawi is a producer at Kinana Films, which is based in Sweden. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Middlesex University in the UK and has a Professional Diploma in Film Production from SAE Institute. Basel started his career as a production manager and line producer. Basel’s work is mainly focused on nonfiction storytelling and short narratives. Up to this point, he worked on several documentaries and more than ten shorts. He is passionate about collaborating creatively with filmmakers and writers to tell stories that matter and can create a difference. In addition to his work on production, Basel gives workshops on financing strategies for film. Basel has participated in renowned producer-specific labs, including DFI’s Producers Lab, EAVE and Young Nordic Producers in Cannes.

Ibrahim Al Otla

Director of Photography - GAZA

Ibrahim Al Otla works as an independent director, cinematographer and producer. He worked as a director and cinematographer for Media Town between 2008 and 2011 and for Palestine Television between 2000 and 2008. He has worked on numerous documentary films for multiple Arab channels, including Al Jazeera Documentary. Ibrahim has served as a jury member for the International Film Festival of Al Quds.  

 

Phil Jandaly

Phil Jandalay has been a documentary editor for the last 20 years and has taken part in award-winning international productions like Nelly & Nadine, The Last Human and Killing Time. He now works as a rough-cut consultant on films like How To Save A Dead Friend, Home Games and How Big is the Galaxy. Working out of Sweden, his projects originated in places as far afield as Serbia, Kenya and Sierra Leone. He has travelled the world as a tutor with EDN and B2B Doc, as well as independently helping filmmakers develop their projects.

 

Marco Padoan

Director of Photography - Sweden

Marco Padoan, FSF - The Swedish Society of Cinematographers, is based in Malmö, Sweden. He works with features, TV series, documentaries, shorts and commercials. He received his education at GCI, Global Cinematography Institute, Los Angeles and
Fridhem Filmlinje, Sweden. Marco Padoan is known for Becker - Kungen av Tingsryd (2017), The Nurse (2014) and Sagan om Dilan och Moa (2018).

Chelsea Bentley

Social Media & Outreach

Chelsea Bentley is a creative communications professional who has worked in multiple capacities as a multimedia contributor. She recently completed a Masters degree in Film & Media Production at the American University in Washington D.C. Her video, photo and digital media work has served versatile clients - creative agencies; nonprofits; digital publications; film productions. She is passionate about the role that media can play in generating empathy and bringing people together. She also brings a background in community engagement, with experience in project management and event production.

Production Company

Kinana Films AB is a Film & TV production company established in 2018 by producer Basel Mawlawi and quickly became known as one of the trusted production companies in Sweden. We aim to support and welcome new voices, ideas, and perspectives. We aim to utilize our space and knowledge as a bridge between Sweden and the Middle East. We are constantly working on fortifying and contributing to the diversity of productions in Sweden. Our attention to detail and dedication to every project have led to the worthy reputation we proudly hold today. Our latest production, Allting är bra nu, is a co-production with SVT, Film I Skåne, and with support from the Swedish Film Institute, has premiered at the Uppsala Short Film Festival 2023.
